Gathers Tea Bar

This was one of my first times going to an actual tea bar, and I was surprised by how packed this place was. I am still not completely sure what they are selling out of here to keep it this busy, but clearly people know something because there was a steady crowd the entire time. The drink I tried was decent, and there are plenty of different options on the menu depending on what kind of tea, matcha, or boba you like. The place has a cool atmosphere, and it seems especially popular with people from UIC and the surrounding neighborhood. It may not normally be the type of place I would think to stop at, but I can understand why people like it. Definitely worth trying at least once, especially if you are already near Taylor Street.

This place is super popular and got really busy. They don’t have a lot of seating so I was lucky to get a chair. I ordered the mango matcha with boba, and the large was certainly large. This matcha was more desserty but had good flavor. The mango was a nice treat for the summer and the boba was perfectly cooked. This wasn’t the most match-forward drink I’ve had but it was authentic and had a good color. It took a bit for the drink to come out but the staff were very friendly.

Honestly, I'm almost glad this café is so far from my house—otherwise I'd probably be here every day! This place is truly a hidden gem, and I wish more people knew about it. The quality of their matcha is exceptional, especially for the price. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. The highlight for me was the Black Sesame Matcha Latte. It had a rich, deep flavor unlike anything I've had elsewhere. The nutty black sesame paired perfectly with the matcha, and the sweetness was just right—not too much, not too little. It was balanced, smooth, and absolutely delicious. If you're a matcha lover, this place is definitely worth the trip. I'd happily drive the distance again just for that latte!

Gathers Tea Bar is one of those spots that instantly feels like a good decision. The drinks are smooth, refreshing, and thoughtfully made — you can tell they care about quality. The flavors are balanced, the ingredients taste fresh, and everything comes out looking as good as it tastes. The vibe is calm and inviting, too. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax, hang out, or get some work done without feeling rushed. Whether you’re grabbing a quick drink or settling in for a bit, it just hits the right note. Overall, Gathers Tea Bar is a genuinely solid tea spot that’s easy to come back to. If you’re in the area and want something clean, tasty, and well-crafted, this place delivers.

This is the place that made me fall in love with matcha! I absolutely love it. The prices are a bit high, but I enjoy every dollar I spend here. Thank you from the heart for the great service, delicious taste, and fast orders! My favorite order is a matcha latte with oat milk, 70% sweetened.
